In 1992, the tournament grew from twelve to twenty teams and again the overall quality of play took a major leap forward. Coming into the third annual Lake Placid Summit, there were 6 or 8 teams thee were legitimate contenders for the Open division title including two-time defending champion Sailin' Shoe Lacrosse Club. In fact, it took two one-goal semi-final thrillers to setup a much anticipated showdown between the veteran Shoe squad and the New England Knights, a team with many current or recent collegiate players from the Syracuse area.
In a classic Open division championship the Sailin' Shoe continued their domination of the Summit with a spectacular 16-15 win over the New England Knights. In the Masters division, the New England Lacrosse Club captured the Championship by defeating Single Wing 13-10.
