The Upstate Lacrosse Club of Syracuse made history at the 5th annual Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse Tournament by becoming the first team in tournament history to defeat four time returning Open division champion Sailin' Shoe Lacrosse Club in a thrilling 7-6 overtime championship game win. In winning the 16 team Open division, Upstate, the 5th seed coming into the tournament, defeated the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd seeded teams.

Upstate's victory ended a tournament record 17 game winning streak of the Sailin' Shoe spanning back to 1990 and marked the first time that the Shoe did not win the Open division Championship.

The Masters division grew from 8 to 10 teams in 1994 as two new entrants joined the eight returning teams from 1993. When all was said and done, the 1994 results looked pretty similar to 1993. In keeping with their Open division legacy, the Sailin' Shoe masters successfully defended it's 1993 championship by defeating the North Country Legends 14-10.
