Northstar Invitational Leverages Key Partners to Offer Valuable Curriculum to Athletes

2019 will mark Northstar's 8th year, and much has changed since Northstar was established in 2012; the continuously evolving talent and athleticism in lacrosse, the recruiting process, and even the game itself has progressed - both technically in rules, and stylistically in the way it’s played. As the sport continues to develop, the Northstar Invitational has become a mainstay on the girls’ lacrosse landscape by focusing on its core purpose: offer a unique, fun, and valuable experience, centered around exclusive competition, purposeful curriculum, and dynamic education. Founded in 2012, the Northstar Invitational (NSI) has become one of the nation’s premier development opportunities for young women who are leaders both on and off the field.

NSI returns for its eighth consecutive year to the Northwood School in Lake Placid, July 29 - August 1, 2019.

Despite all that has changed since 2012, the Northstar mission has not waivered. At its core is a holistic approach, which focuses on sports performance, leadership, inspiration, mental fitness, recruiting perspective, fun, and camaraderie. Unique and intrinsic to Northstar’s character are the beautiful Adirondack setting, and the historic sports atmosphere at the core of Lake Placid.

Northstar plays a positive role in the endeavor of female student athletes to be the best they can be; attending athletes, leaders on and off the field, continue to thrive in this environment. The Northstar curriculum is carefully planned to ensure that athletes leave Lake Placid with added tools and resources, and a sparked passion for the game.

To enhance the NSI curriculum and innovative development opportunity for attending athletes, Summit Lacrosse Ventures constantly seeks meaningful and sustainable associations, to complement the Northstar mission. Over the recent years, we have been able to forge some outstanding relationships with partners that will help you on the field.

Returning to enhance your experience in 2019 are Motive Pure (hydration),  SPEED Lacrosse, Northstar Performance Index (NPI), Dr. Mara Smith (mental fitness), and Cross Street Sports (recruiting).  Additionally, we are planning to announce multiple brand new, world-class, partnerships in the near future. Stay tuned.

“Our intention is to support the leadership, development, and lifelong success of Northstar athletes, and each of our partners complements this mission”, said Co-Founder, Ashley Gersuk Murphy. “Each unique element of the Northstar curriculum has a purpose, to enhances the overall experience, but more importantly, in its contribution to the long-term empowerment of an impressive group of female student athletes. We are grateful that partners Motive Pure, SPEED Lacrosse, Dr. Smith and Cross Street Sports share this vision”.

The 2019 Northstar Invitational selection process is nearly complete, with 500+ recommendations submitted from well-respected high school and club coaches across the United States and Canada. Invited student athletes will represent the highest caliber of the 2021, 2022, and 2023 graduating high school classes. Past Northstar athletes have left large shoes to fill, with hundreds of Northstar Athletes verbally committed to, or currently playing on Division I women’s lacrosse programs. A limited number of spots remain in the 2019 Northstar Invitational; recommendations can be submitted at

Summit Lacrosse Ventures and Northstar Lacrosse aim for these young women to leave Lake Placid as more informed, motivated, and confident individuals, with a sense of where they fall in the national landscape, and what they aspire to achieve. Further, Northstar athletes return to their schools, teams, and communities, with a responsibility to share their knowledge, elevate their peers, and continue to work toward their potential as leaders, on and off the lacrosse field.
