Coach Katie Rowan & Key Partners Join Northstar to Enhance Athlete Experience

2020 marks the ninth iteration of the Northstar Invitational, which attracts a special group of athletes and future leaders from the US and beyond to the iconic village of Lake Placid, home to 30+ years of lacrosse tradition. The goal, unwavering since NSI’s inception, is to provide a relevant and unparalleled experience, unlike the rest of the ‘summer lax circuit’. Offering a purposeful curriculum pillared on the fundamental values for successful development and an opportunity to join a lasting network and community.

NSI returns for its ninth consecutive year to the Northwood School in Lake Placid, July 27-30, 2020

At its core, Northstar  takes a holistic approach which focuses on various facets required to be successful at the highest level, in addition to competitive lacrosse: sports performance, leadership, inspiration, mental fitness, recruiting process knowledge & perspective, respect, fun, teamwork, and camaraderie. Unique and intrinsic to Northstar’s character is the beautiful Adirondack setting, and the historic sports atmosphere at the heart of Lake Placid.

Northstar proudly supports the endeavor of female student athletes to be their best; attending athletes are leaders on and off the field who noticeably thrive in the Northstar environment year after year. The NSI curriculum is carefully planned to ensure that athletes leave Lake Placid with added tools and resources, and a sparked passion for the game. Northstar delivers a positive & powerful atmosphere with strong peers, coaches, and role models for athletes to develop & build skills and relationships that will reach far beyond high school lacrosse.

To enhance the relevant development opportunity for NSI athletes, Summit Lacrosse Ventures constantly seeks meaningful and sustainable relationships to complement the Northstar mission.

For NSI 2020, we are pleased to announce the addition of University at Albany Women’s Lacrosse Head Coach, Katie Rowan, to lead a skills session. The highly decorated Syracuse University alum, World Cup Champion, and current Danes Head Coach will bring her unique experience and knowledge to Northstar athletes in a small group setting, intended to maximize the instructional opportunity.

We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention existing partners who will continue to enhance the Northstar experience in 2020: Brave (leadership development), Nike (exclusive gear partner), Northstar Performance Index (NPI), Sports Recruits (recruiting & film), and Dr. Mara Smith (mental fitness).

Motive Pure will once again be the Official Hydration Partner of the Northstar Invitational. Trusted by both the Men’s and Women’s U.S. National Teams and used extensively by college teams, electrolyte hydration should be an important part of any athlete’s routine and we’re excited to bring this benefit to our Northstar athletes. NSI is fast and furious, and most athletes arrive to Lake Placid toward the end of their long Spring-Summer season. Motive Pure will serve as a great tool to help athletes to perform at an optimal level during the event.

“Northstar is designed to apply our ‘hindsight’ perspective on what it takes to be successful, and ultimately to support the leadership, development, and lifelong achievement of Northstar athletes,” said Co-Founder, Ashley Gersuk Murphy. “Each partner and unique element of the Northstar curriculum has a purpose in its contribution to the long-term empowerment of an impressive group of female student athletes. We are grateful to have partners who share our vision”.

The 2020 Northstar Invitational registration process is in process for the 2022, 2023, 2024 graduating high school classes. Are you a Northstar Athlete? Do you know someone who is?
