Albany tryout for boys and girls, June 23
SPARKS, Md. — The journey to wearing red, white and blue begins now.
USA Lacrosse has announced the regional tryout dates and locations for the 2023 National Team Development Program (NTDP). The NTDP is a three-step process for high school boys’ and girls’ lacrosse players that will ultimately end with 88 players being named to one of four USA Select teams that will play against international competition during the USA Lacrosse Fall Classic in October.
Since launching in 2019, the program has helped showcase and develop some of the top young players in the country, many of whom are beginning to shine at the collegiate level as they continue on the pathway to the national teams.
The first step of the process is regional tryouts where players participate in training developed in consultation with U.S. National Teams coaches and staff. There are 12 locations (6 boys’ and 6 girls’) currently confirmed for the 2023 cycle with additional tryout locations under consideration. Players can also be evaluated by submitting an online virtual application.
The regional tryouts will be a combination of standalone events and sessions held in advance of tournaments run by NXT, Primetime and Summit Lacrosse Ventures.

The program is only available for individuals enrolled in high school by the start of the 2023-24 academic year and individuals must be born on or between September 1, 2004 and August 31, 2009 to be eligible.
Following the tryouts and review of online applications, approximately 300 players (150 boys and 150 girls) will be invited to USA Lacrosse for national combines. The boys’ combine will be held July 31 – August 2, 2023 and the girls’ combine is set for Aug. 7-9, 2023.
During these three-day sessions, athletes will be taken through elite level training of both individual and team skill development as well as sessions on strength and conditioning, recruitment, student athlete advisory, social emotional learning, and leadership training.
At the conclusion of the combines, 22 players will be named to each of the USA Select U16 and U18 boys’ and girls’ teams. Those teams will compete alongside other U.S. national teams during the Fall Classic at USA Lacrosse headquarters the weekend Oct. 13-15, 2023.
