Garrick Smith was recently elected as president of the Tri-Lakes Youth Lacrosse program at its spring kickoff meeting.
According to board chair and founder Bill Larzelere, Smith will be supported by newly elected board members Martha Bullock, Josh Dann and Shannon Muldowney, who will be joined by existing board members George Leveille, Jim Murnane and John Muldowney.
Outgoing president Chris Grant has run the operations of the spring program for the last 10 years. Grant’s dedication to improving the program to provide a great experience for young athletes has been tireless, and he will remain in a leadership role on the board.
The Tri-Lakes Lacrosse program currently consists of half its players from Saranac Lake and the other half from Lake Placid, with an equal amount of boys and girls. When Tri-Lakes Youth Lacrosse was founded in 2001, there were no girls youth lacrosse programs active in the North Country, and now there are eight. The annual home youth tournament at the Lake Placid lacrosse fields draws more than 80 teams and 1,500 players from the Capital District to Central New York to Montreal.
