Casey Powell. One of the greatest lacrosse players ever and a household name at the Lake Placid Summit Classic. It was just announced that Casey will be a member of the 2017 class that will be inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame. We caught up with the Legend just prior to the announcement.
Do you still attend the LPSC?
It's been a few year's since I've been as Major League Lacrosse disallowed us to play in it during season. However, years ago I took the whole MLL season off just so I could play in Placid.
What is your first memory of the Lake Placid Summit Classic?
First memory was right out of high school and playing against amazing players from all over the country and meeting and watching legendary players. I played for the Sailin’ Shoe.
What is your fondest memory of the Lake Placid Summit Classic?
Playing with my brothers and having fun in town.
If you had to name one quintessential feature of the tournament, that we should always maintain, what would it be?
Just the overall feel is amazing to experience. It's more than a tournament, it's a celebration of our sport and the amazing people that represent it. In Placid, we are all one.
What is your favorite thing to do in Lake Placid, off-field?
Tail O' the Pup and walking through town.
What is/was your favorite LP restaurant or establishment?
Who was the best player you played with and/or against in Lake Placid?
Paul Schimoler pops into my head. And all the Sailin Shoe legends and of course my National Champion teammates of the prestigious Burnt Orange.
Have you had family members who have also played in Lake Placid?
Yes indeed. You ever heard of the Powell Brothers?

I would say 1994
Do you still play lacrosse?
I do still play lacrosse.
What line of work are/were you in? Are you retired?
I consider myself a lacrosse journeyman.
What are your current hobbies?
I dedicate my time to helping share, support and inspire Lacrosse.
