Mayday Missions

When a citizen is in trouble, she or he calls 9-1-1.  What phone number does a first responder call when she or he needs assistance due to illness or personal tragedy?  What happens when the person whom the community usually calls on for help is suddenly in need?

A mayday is an internationally recognized term or radio code that is used as a distress signal to signify a life-threatening emergency.  It is one word - one simple word that when uttered loudly announces to anyone who can hear it that there is an emergency in progress.

Mayday Missions is a nonprofit, charitable organization dedicated to helping those who help others.  Our team of volunteers rises up in times of need to assist members of public safety services (law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services, and beyond) as well as their families.  The energy, enthusiasm, and selfless service of the Mayday Missions volunteers inspires good people everywhere to pitch in and lend a helping hand.

Our past missions have included Joey Bulger, the 7-year-old son of a police officer who was battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia; Justin Gerity, the young son of a police officer who was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy; and Rachel Morgan, a local police officer who was shot and critically injured in the line of duty.  For more information about our current and past missions and the causes that we support, please visit our website: www.MaydayMissions.org.

And so, this letter is not just about words on a page – it is a call to action.  It is not unlike the hundreds of calls per day answered by first responders everywhere.  Except this time, the call is made for the sake of those very first responders asking for your help.

THIS IS A MAYDAY.  Are you prepared to answer the call today?  Will you pledge your support and help people just like Joey, Justin, and Rachel?  Will you be there for others who find themselves in the throes of personal crisis?  You can choose to support us with a tax-deductible monetary donation through our website or by check to the above address, an in-kind contribution, by hosting a fundraiser to benefit Mayday Missions, or a variety of other means by which you can help further our cause.

You can help right now by following us and sharing us with your friends on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter @MaydayMissions and joining our email distribution list on our website.  You can also select Mayday Missions as your AmazonSmile recognized charity, which enables us to receive donations from Amazon at no additional cost to you.  These simple gestures will help spread awareness about our organization and our missions.
